Studying well is not only about taking notes. It is also about staying focused, reviewing ideas clearly, and understanding how concepts connect.
That is why we are excited to introduce two new features in Katav: Pomodoro Timer and AI Mind Maps.
Both features are now available to all Katav users, including users on the Free plan.
Stay focused with the new Pomodoro Timer
Long study sessions can quickly become overwhelming. Sometimes, the hardest part is not understanding the subject — it is staying focused long enough to make real progress.
Katav’s new Pomodoro Timer was designed to help students study in focused sessions, take intentional breaks, and keep a healthy rhythm while working through their notes, readings, assignments, or exam preparation.
You can find the Pomodoro Timer directly in the top-right header, near your profile picture.
With the new Pomodoro tool, you can:
Start a focus session directly inside Katav
Choose between classic, extended, or custom durations
Set your own focus time
Configure short and long breaks
Choose how many cycles happen before a long break
Enable sound notifications
Enable browser notifications
Auto-start the next phase when a session ends
The goal is simple: help you stay in the zone without needing a separate timer, app, or browser tab.
Whether you are reviewing lecture notes, writing an essay, preparing flashcards, or studying for an exam, the Pomodoro Timer helps you break your work into manageable blocks.
Why Pomodoro works well for students
The Pomodoro technique is popular because it makes studying feel less intimidating. Instead of thinking, “I need to study for three hours,” you can focus on one short session at a time.
A focused session gives your brain a clear goal. A short break gives you time to recover. After a few cycles, a longer break helps you reset before continuing.
Katav’s Pomodoro Timer brings that structure directly into your study workspace.
No switching tools.
No losing focus.
No guessing when to pause.
Just start your focus session and keep going.
Visualize your notes with AI Mind Maps
The second new feature is AI Mind Maps.
Mind Maps are available inside the Study tab of each class. Katav automatically generates them from your own class notes, helping you see the structure of your content more clearly.
This is especially useful when your notes are long, dense, or full of connected ideas.
Instead of reviewing everything as a linear text, Mind Maps help you identify:
Main topics
Subtopics
Key relationships
Important concepts
The overall structure of a lecture or lesson
Katav uses your notes to create a visual representation of the content, making it easier to review and remember what matters.
Automatically generated from your class notes
One of the best parts of Katav’s Mind Maps is that you do not need to build them manually.
When you open the Mind Map feature inside the Study tab, Katav generates the map based on the notes you already created for that class.
This means your study material becomes more visual without requiring extra work.
Mind Maps can be:
Adjusted for better readability
Viewed directly inside Katav
Printed for offline study
At this stage, Mind Maps are not manually editable. They are generated automatically from your notes so that you can quickly transform written content into a visual study tool.
A better way to review complex classes
Some subjects are easy to study in a simple list. Others are not.
History, biology, philosophy, law, religious studies, literature, and many other fields often involve many concepts, people, dates, causes, consequences, and relationships.
For those subjects, visual organization can make a big difference.
A Mind Map can help you quickly answer questions like:
What is the main idea of this lecture?
Which concepts are connected?
What are the major categories?
What should I review first?
How does this topic fit into the larger course?
This makes Mind Maps especially helpful before exams, presentations, essays, and class discussions.
Built for every Katav user
Both the Pomodoro Timer and AI Mind Maps are available to all users, including Free plan users.
We believe that focus and better study organization should not be limited to premium users. These tools are part of Katav’s mission to help students learn better, review smarter, and stay organized throughout the semester.
Katav is becoming your complete study workspace
These new features are another step toward making Katav more than a note-taking app.
Katav is designed to help you manage your academic life in one place:
Organize classes and lectures
Take structured notes
Add files and images
Generate summaries
Create quizzes and flashcards
Study with AI assistance
Review with visual tools
Stay focused with built-in productivity features
With Pomodoro and Mind Maps, Katav now helps not only with storing information, but also with turning that information into real study progress.
